Economics & Policy Editor - London

 

Salary: £33,784 - £40,867 per annum

 

(Fixed term contract until 31st March 2018, with extension subject to funding)

 

The International Growth Centre aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research. The IGC directs a global network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams in Africa and South Asia and works closely with partner governments to generate high quality research and policy advice on key growth challenges. Based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

 

The Economics & Policy Editor will play a crucial role in translating IGC academic research into easily understandable policy advice and compelling ideas for growth. S/he will commission and edit IGC’s blog, working with some of the world’s best development economists and will play a leading role in shaping IGC's contribution to global debates on growth. The role holder will edit a series of publications aimed at communicating IGC’s work to key audiences, and act as managing editor for IGC’s web site.

 

This role requires someone with a strong development economics background who is passionate about communicating academic research to a policy audience. The successful candidate will hold a post-graduate degree (MSc/MPA/MPP) in economics, public policy/administration or development economics, and proven track record in a relevant editorial function. The candidate should be able to draw out and identify policy implications from academic research and apply these. A dynamic and entrepreneurial approach is essential, as is the proven ability to build relationships and gain respect from top international researchers. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential.

 

This is a full-time position based within LSE. The role will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2018, with extension subject to funding. Starting salary will be £33,784 with progression in role.
