Research Economist, Labour Policies for Inclusive Growth
Salary From £37,197 to £44,802 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a full time fixed term appointment for 2 years
The Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) is seeking to appoint a full time Research Economist. The CEP offers an outstandingly dynamic research and training environment with researchers who lead the field.
You will be an economist or quantitative social scientist, who will assist Professor Alan Manning with work on an ERC grant on Labour Policies for Inclusive Growth. The topics of research will be the impact of technology, immigration and imperfect competition on the labour market.
The postholder will be expected to co-author papers and to help lead the research, and to supervise more junior researchers on the project.
You must have an undergraduate degree in Economics or other quantitative science discipline and a Masters in Economics or other quantitative science discipline.
You must have a PhD (or be within one year of completion) in Economics or other quantitative social science or have evidence of original research work through independently written scientific papers approaching refereed journal quality. In addition, you must have advanced quantitative and analytical skills and experience in dealing with large datasets, as well as experience in using STATA or other econometrics/statistical software
You must also have experience of the execution, design and write up of independent research projects; as well as an understanding of labour market economics and scientific literature; and must demonstrate potential or existing personal research agenda and commitment to development of research projects within the overall objectives of the project and the wider CEP.
