Salary is competitive and not less than £37,717 pa inclusive

This is a fixed term appointment for nine months from 11 January 2021

The Department of Gender Studies was established in 1993 to address the major intellectual challenges posed by contemporary changes in gender relations. This remains a central aim of the Department today, which is the largest research and teaching unit of its kind in Europe. The Department is interested in mapping and intervening in the gendered nature of social processes, and believes that an integrated, interdisciplinary, and intersectional approach is needed to do so. In our research and teaching, we aim to combine theory and practice with an interdisciplinary and transnational perspective.

We are looking to recruit a candidate at the level of LSE Fellow in Gender and Human Rights to contribute to MSc-level teaching in gender and rights. The role will primarily involve seminar teaching, but we will also expect the successful candidate to deliver some lectures, where appropriate, and to supervise MSc dissertations.

Candidates should have been awarded a PhD in social sciences, humanities or a closely related field at the time of application; have relevant teaching experience, preferably at PG level; and have a very good knowledge of, as well as a developing research record in, gender and human rights with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in:

*Anti-colonial, anti-imperial, and decolonial approaches to Gender Studies

*Black feminist and intersectional approaches

*Transnational feminist approaches

Candidates should also have excellent communication and presentation skills; the ability to work in close partnership with other teachers, including on a one-on-one basis and in small groups, and to provide effective support, as necessary.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
