The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is seeking to strengthen its Department of Management by appointing a leading academic in Information Systems and Innovation as Professor. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the Department in management research and teaching as well as play a role in faculty development within the Information Systems and Innovation Group. Essential candidate qualifications include an undisputed international reputation for high quality research and scholarship in information systems and digital innovation. Evidence of a consistent record of excellence as an educator in the field of information systems and management at the post-graduate level is also essential, along with a demonstrated ability to contribute to curricular innovation beyond the appointee’s field of research specialization.  

 

We welcome applicants with a successful research record in areas of digital innovation such as digital platforms, service innovation and e-business, social media and the digital economy, and information infrastructures and digital ecosystems. Scholarship on big data as a key component of digital innovation will be desirable. We expect research that demonstrates strong relevance for understanding the complexity of social or organizational processes and the institutional patterns within which digital innovation is embedded.

 

As part of being a world-class social science university, the LSE is home to research and teaching on management, finance, and accounting. Within the Department of Management, faculty members are specialists in managerial economics and strategy, organisational behaviour, marketing, information systems and digital innovation, employment relations/human resource management, public management and governance, and decision sciences. Through the Department of Management, the LSE offers a suite of post-graduate degrees along with its BSc Management. The post-graduate offerings include the MSc in Management Information Systems and Digital Innovation (MISDI) in which the appointee is expected to make essential contributions along with teaching in the PhD programme of the Information Systems and Innovation Group. The Department is fully integrated into the intellectual life and ethos of the LSE, while being part of several globally prominent alliances and networks of management schools, including CEMS, TRIUM, and the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM).
