Assistant Professor in Health and International Development

 

Salary is no less than £54,984 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website

 

 

The Department of International Development promotes interdisciplinary postgraduate teaching and research on processes of political, economic, and social development and change. We are dedicated to understanding problems of poverty and late development within local communities, as well as national and international political and economic systems. The appointed candidate will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities.

 

Candidates must have a completed PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD by the post start date in September 2019, related to health and development, from a social science discipline such as Politics, Development Studies, International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Geography, or related subjects.

 

Candidates will have expertise and a proven record of outstanding research interests in an area of health and international development. Research experience should be in a developing country or countries that is embedded in broader issues of international development, such as, climate change and health, conflict and health, foreign investment or trade and health, migration and health, the politics of global health, and other related areas.

 

Candidates will have a strong track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications, with demonstrated potential to publish in top journals or with leading book publishers. Candidates will also have a well-developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in internationally recognized publications. Candidates will be able to teach MSc and PhD-level courses on health and international development.
