LSE Fellow in Political Theory
Salary from £35,999 to £43,360 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £46,617 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years from 2nd September 2019, with a further possible extension of up to one year, subject to funding.
The Department of Government, a large and vibrant academic unit within the LSE, is seeking to appoint an LSE Fellow in Political Theory. The LSE Fellow will contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the School by conducting teaching and research which will enhance the School’s reputation as a research-led teaching institution, with appropriate mentoring from department.
The LSE is a leading centre for the study of political theory and philosophy, constituting one of the UK’s largest concentrations of researchers in this area and related fields. The political theory group is based in the Department of Government and maintains close relations with political theorists and philosophers in other parts of the School, for example in the Departments of Law, Philosophy and International Relations. One of the Group’s key assets is the breadth and diversity of its members’ interests and expertise, ranging from the history of political thought, to contemporary moral and political philosophy, critical theory, comparative political thought, the philosophy of social science and rational and social choice theory. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in areas of political theory that fit the research interests of the theory group.
The successful candidate will have completed or be due to complete a PhD in Political Theory/Philosophy or a closely related discipline by 2 September 2019. They will also have a developing research record in political theory, a very good knowledge of the key concepts and contemporary debates within the discipline of Political Theory, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate excellent teaching skills.
