Research Officer, Kuwait Programme

 

 Salary is £34,736 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term, full time appointment for 12 months from May/June 2018.

 

The Middle East Centre promotes interdisciplinary research on the societies, economies, polities and international relations of the Middle East and North Africa.

 

The Centre’s Kuwait Programme seeks a Research Officer to produce independent research on one or more of the programme’s themes.

 

Candidates should have a PhD (or proof of submission date) on a topic directly related to one of the programme’s ten research themes, or equivalent experience of research on a theme (please see ‘how to apply’ document for the themes); a proven record of delivering high quality published research, or clear demonstration of potential to do so; knowledge of and connections to the international research community working on the subject; and knowledge of and connections to actors in the region. Knowledge of Arabic would be desirable.

 

Candidates will also need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and command of English; the ability to communicate research findings to diverse audiences through varied formats; experience of conducting successful fieldwork in the GCC region; and experience of effective networking within the academic, policy, media, business and third sectors.
