Course Tutor in City Design and Social Science

   

Salary is competitive and not less than £43,907 pa inclusive of London allowance (pro rata)

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 24 months and is part time 0.5 FTE for 2.5 days per week

 

 

The Cities Programme within the Department of Sociology is seeking a part-time LSE Course Tutor to give lectures and conduct class and studio-based teaching within the MSc in City Design and Social Science. The programme explores connections between the physical design and social organisation of urban environments.

 

You will have a completed PhD in Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, Urban Sociology, Urban Studies or closely related field by the post start date as well as a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture, Design, Urban Studies, Urban Planning or related field.

You will have research interests in design and the relation between the social and spatial life of cities; Experience teaching in architecture, urban design and planning and/or urban studies; A commitment to high quality teaching in the context of lectures and studio, and fostering a positive learning environment for students; and a developing record of publications in refereed journals. An ability to relate specialist work to the context of a Sociology Department within a social science institution would be desirable.
