Assistant Professor in Europe and the International Political Economy

 

Salary is no less than £54,984 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website

 

The LSE’s European Institute is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for research and teaching on contemporary Europe. We seek to appoint an economist who can help us expand our teaching and research in political economy.

The appointee will teach on the MSc in the Political Economy of Europe and MSc in the Global Political Economy of China and Europe. They will also be expected to conduct and publish outstanding, quality research. We invite applications from candidates across all approaches to political economy.

Candidates will need to have a completed PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD by the post start date, in economics (including its various subfields). They will also need to have expertise and research interests in policy issues relating to the European and international political economy.  The ability to contribute to other cross-disciplinary teaching within the European Institute is desired.

Candidates should also have a proven ability to undertake methodologically rigorous empirical research, either of a qualitative or quantitate nature; a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications; the proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications, or potential to publish in top journals or with leading book publishers in political economy or economics; a clear, well-developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications; and the ability to teach in related areas and to place political economy in a wider thematic and/or comparative frame at the graduate level.
