The International Growth Centre (IGC)

 

RESEARCH COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

 

Salary: £33,784 to £40,867 per annum

 

The Research Communications Manager will play a crucial role in promoting IGC research findings and policy advice to IGC’s key audiences. Managing a team of two, s/he will work with researchers to produce a series of IGC publications and promote these research findings through both media and social media presence. S/he will work alongside country teams, enabling them to develop and implement local communications plans and be responsible for delivering UK-based IGC research dissemination events and advising on other IGC events.

 

The IGC aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research. The IGC directs a global network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams in Africa and South Asia and works closely with partner governments to generate high quality research and policy advice on key growth challenges.  Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

 

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a Masters degree in economics or related discipline.  
  • Have a proven track record of working with top academics in economic development to analyse and present research results to policy audiences and the media.
  • Have an entrepreneurial and dynamic approach.
  • Successful track record of developing and delivering impactful communications strategies, policy events and conferences.
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills, in particular articulating technical information to non-specialist audiences.       

 

This is a full-time position based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London. Starting salary will be £33,784 with progression in role. Exceptional candidates may start further up the salary band. The appointment is open-ended subject to funding and is currently funded until 31st March 2018 and may be extended.
