ERC-funded project: “Justice Interactions and Peacebuilding:  From Static to Dynamic Discourses across National, Ethnic, Gender and Age Groups”

 

Research Officer

 

Salary is competitive and not less than £34,736 pa inclusive.

 

This is a fixed term appointment at 0.8 FTE for 3 years (36 months) from 1 October 2018 to 30 September 2021

 

The Department of Government, a large and vibrant academic unit within the LSE, is seeking to appoint a research officer. The candidate will work with Dr Denisa Kostovicova, the principal investigator on the ERC-funded “Justice Interactions and Peacebuilding:  From Static to Dynamic Discourses across National, Ethnic, Gender and Age Groups.”

 

This interdisciplinary project will investigate how people interact with each other in response to the practice of post-conflict justice across national, ethnic, gender and age groups in different deliberative domains. The programme of mixed-method research will deliver fine-grained multi-language empirical analysis of patterns of discourse in four former Yugoslav countries (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Croatia) and advance the study of peacebuilding by generating a theory of justice interactions. The successful candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team. She or he will benefit from training opportunities and participation in workshops and other events over the course of the research project.

 

You will have completed a PhD in Political Science or a related discipline. You will be experienced in qualitative research methods, have native-level proficiency in Bosnian-Serbian-Croatian and/or Albanian, have conducted field work in any country of the Western Balkans and be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team.

 

You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage your own workload and work to tight timescales.  A strong interest and research experience in the fields of transitional justice, peace-building and post-conflict reconstruction would be an advantage, as would demonstrable evidence of innovation and creativity in research.
