Research Economist, Growth Programme, Centre for Economic Performance

 

Salary from £34,736 to £42,019 pa inclusive

 

This is a full time fixed term appointment for 1 year (one or two posts)

 

 

The job involves research on an EU funded project focusing on the design and impact of R&D policies.  You will have a keen interest in topics related to economics of growth and innovation. You will be working with senior members of the CEP and you will be jointly working on academic publications as well as policy reports and presentations. You should be able to demonstrate an ability to design, execution and write-up of independent research projects.  Experience of organising and supervising other project staff is desirable.

You will have a first or upper second class undergraduate degree in Economics or other quantitative discipline and a Masters in Economics or other quantitative discipline passed at a level allowing acceptance on PhD.  A PhD in Economics or other quantitative science discipline (or being within 1 year of completing this) is desirable.

 

You must have advanced quantitative and analytical skills and experience in dealing with large datasets, as well as advanced experience in using common econometrics and statistics software (e.g. STATA, R, etc.). Experience in the analysis of large micro level datasets is essential. Ideally, you have already worked with patent data and/or firm level datasets.  You will also be familiar with common statistics packages, programming languages and have an ability to interpret and analyse patterns or trends in data.

 

The post will commence as soon as possible.
