Salary from £26,533 to £29,622 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £31,713 pa inclusive of London allowance 

 

We are seeking to recruit a Library Assistant to join the Metadata team within the Content and Discovery Group.  As one of three Library Assistants in the Metadata team you will provide MARC records for the Library’s printed collections, as well as create metadata for publications in the research repository.  You will also contribute to delivering services to students and staff at the Library support desk, answering basic enquiries.  Regular weekend duties are required and evening duties (to 7 pm), with time taken off in lieu.  

 

You will have GCSE passes in Maths and English or equivalent, with good IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel.  You will have experience of working in a Library customer service environment and of cataloguing, or describing electronic resources, using an automated system.  You should be able to communicate well with a wide range of people, and be able to work on your own initiative as well as being an effective team member.  You will be able to work to a high standard of accuracy.
