Assistant Librarian, Metadata
Salary from £35,999 to £43,360 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £46,617 pa inclusive of London allowance
We are seeking to recruit a full-time permanent Assistant Librarian to join the Metadata team within the Content and Discovery Group. As one of two Assistant Librarians in the Metadata team you will work together to take responsibility for research metadata and library management system metadata as well as managing the operational processes of the team and supporting the team manager in developing services and implementing metadata standards. This post takes primary responsibility for research outputs metadata and developing expert user knowledge of PURE and Eprints repositories. You will also manage the supply and creation of MARC metadata for serials and e-resources with the support of your fellow Assistant Librarian. You will line manager individual members of the team, as well as spending some time supporting front line services. Regular weekend duties are required and evening duties (to 7pm), with time taken off in lieu.
You will have extensive experience of supporting resource description and discovery in HE or research libraries, with extensive knowledge of metadata standards and schemas and the ability to work to a high standard of accuracy. You will be aware of current trends in discovery and metadata, and be able to apply that knowledge to ensure that the Library is positioned to take advantage of new developments, and implement innovative Library services and working practices. You will have experience of managing or supervising staff.
