LSE Covid-19 publishes expert and accessible research about the coronavirus pandemic. Our focus is on the global policy response to the crisis. The blog is part of the LSE’s School of Public Policy and is led by the Dean, Professor Andrés Velasco and Associate Dean, Professor Tony Travers.

The LSE COVID-19 blog is a key part of the institution’s effort to bring the insights of social science research to bear on the most pressing global crisis in a generation. Our aim with this blog is to convene, curate and promote the best social science research both to underpin the medical and clinical response to the crisis, and also to inform and advise on the economic and social reconstructions in societies, nations and internationally. The fields of political science, behavioural and decision science, economics, anthropology, law and international development will all be critical in this endeavour.

We are now seeking a Managing Editor to take a leading role in the development of the blog and the promotion of the research featured in it. The post-holder will commission articles and then work directly with blog authors to review and edit their work to ensure its accessibility, relevance and outreach. The post-holder will also assist with the outreach and visibility of the blog through a broader website presence, social media and events organisation.

Candidates must have experience of editing the work of others and a demonstrable commitment to the promotion of the social sciences and their contribution to solve global problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Organisational skills, discretion and diplomacy are also vital as well as the ability to work independently, collaboratively and to show flexibility to meet the demands of this urgent initiative.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
