The salary for this post is competitive and not less than £89,502 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the  LSE website

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment seeks an outstanding individual to build on its existing achievements and deliver the strategic ambitions of LSE to maintain a leading research institute on climate change and the environment.

This next chapter of the Institute calls for a skilled advocate to provide intellectual and strategic leadership and further advance the Institute’s programmes of policy-relevant research. The Director will build the necessary relationships within the Institute and across LSE to support and enable impactful research and engagement, and secure the future with ongoing funding.

The Director will contribute to the intellectual life of the School, particularly through providing strong and ambitious support for the School’s recently launched Sustainability Strategic Plan, an important element in the LSE 2030 Strategy.

The post holder will be an established Professor or Professorial Research Fellow, or have significant equivalent Professor in Practice standing in the field of Climate Change. They will have an outstanding track record of producing research-based policy-relevant outputs of world-leading quality and high impact.  They will have experience of successfully conducting relevant high level engagement activities with policy audiences and ability to engage in knowledge exchange and a clear viable strategy for future policy orientated research. The post holder will have a track record in providing leadership in people management, effective administration and contributing to strategic decision-making.

The post is offered as a five-year appointment in the first instance, with extensions subject to funding. Besides taking on the post of Director of the Grantham Research Institute, and dependant on the successful candidate’s profile, they will be appointed either as a Professorial Research Fellow or Professor in Practice. In some cases a departmental affiliation may be possible subject to negotiation.
