Communications and Events Officer

 

Salary is competitive and not less than £30,570 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 3 years full-time

 

 

The Firoz Lalji Centre for Africa (FLCA) connects different social science disciplines and works in partnership with Africa to bring African voices to the global debate. It contains an associated research centre, the Centre for Public Authority and International Development (CPAID), which produces high-quality research and evidence to generate informed and successful international development policies, particularly in crises-affected areas in Africa. FLCA is seeking an exceptional communications professional to support the development and delivery of communication and event strategies to promote our work to a global audience.

 

As part of a dynamic team, the postholder will work with the Communications Manager to enhance internal and external communications and engagement with relevant audiences through digital channels and events. With a background in planning as well as delivering strategies, the suitable candidate will have proven technical abilities in digital content creation, copywriting and social media, including a familiarity with CMS and direct-marketing tools. Committed to disseminating new ideas and research, the postholder will also have significant experience in delivering public and closed events and of managing a varied workload to deadlines.

 

An excellent writer, the candidate will also possess a strong attention to detail, display a creative approach to communication practices and demonstrate excellent organisational skills with a responsive and flexible attitude. A self-starter, the successful candidate will be able to work independently and with initiative, as well as enjoy working as part of a team. A strong interest in issues pertaining to the African continent and international development will be beneficial in this role.
