Senior Communications Officer

 

Salary from £30,570 to £35,108 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £37,717 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

The Senior Communications Officer will play an important role in promoting the International Growth

Centre (IGC), its ideas for growth, research findings and policy advice to IGC’s key audiences.

As part of the communications team, and under the guidance of the Head of Communications, they will develop and implement all digital aspects of IGC’s communications strategy. They will manage IGC’s social media presence, website, design and disseminate IGC publications, and engage with the media. They will work closely with IGC’s country teams, enabling them to effectively design and disseminate outputs from country research projects and increase local media coverage of IGC’s work. They will also work closely with IGC’s web and software suppliers and freelance designers to support the delivery of communications activities.

 

The IGC aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led

policy advice based on frontier research. The IGC directs a global network of world-leading

researchers and in-country teams in Africa and South Asia and works closely with partner

governments to generate high quality research and policy advice on key growth challenges.

Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

 

The successful applicant will:

 

  • Have a successful track record of delivering effective communications
  • Have experience in managing digital content for social media and websites and designing publications
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills, in particular articulating academic, technical information to non-specialist audiences
  • Have initiative and drive
  • Work well in a team with a flexible approach      

 

This is a full-time position currently remote, but usually based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London.
