Assistant Professor in Health and International Development

 

 Salaries will be on the appropriate salary scale and will be commensurate with experience, taking into account pay equity within the Department.

The salary scale starts at £55,974 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website  

 

The Department of International Development plays a central role in the LSE, a global, single-faculty, social science university located in the heart of London. The Department’s faculty and research strengths are centered on processes of social, political and economic development and change.  The Department’s faculty members are engaged in research and scholarly activity across LSE, through research centres such as the Firoz Lalji Centre for Africa, Middle East Centre, South Asia Centre, Southeast Asia Centre, Latin America and Caribbean Centre, and inter-departmental research units such as the Global Health Initiative.  

 

The Department of International Development at LSE seeks to hire an Assistant Professor who will strengthen our internationally renowned, innovative and publicly engaged faculty. The post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities.

Candidates should have a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications in health and international development from any of these perspectives: development studies, geography, government, international relations, politics, or sociology.  Successful applicants will also have a PhD or be close to completing a PhD in one of the above mentioned areas by the post start date.

You will have proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications or potential to publish in top journals or with leading book publishers in health and international development; and a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications.

 

You will also have a demonstrable ability to teach on postgraduate programmes in health and international development.
