Research Officer in Social Care

 

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment until December 2023

 

The Care Policy and Evaluation Centre is a research centre at the LSE. Directed by Dr Jose-Luis Fernandez, CPEC undertakes research particularly in the areas of long-term care and mental health economics and policy.

 

CPEC is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Officer to start as soon as possible until December 2023 to support a number of externally funded research studies within the Centre, with particular contributions to research within the NIHR Policy Innovation and Evaluation Research Unit (PIRU) and the NIHR Older People and Frailty Policy Research Unit (OPPRU).

 

The Research Officer will be expected to apply – as appropriate - qualitative and/or quantitative methods to contribute to the evaluation of the social care and health care systems nationally and (where relevant) internationally. They will be involved in data collection, management and analysis; contributing to the drafting of project reports and papers; and the dissemination of findings to a range of stakeholders, including funders, policy analysts and other academics.

 

The Research Officer will undertake a range of desk and field-based activities, including carrying out evidence reviews and other background research activities.

 

Candidates should have:

·     A Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as health services research, health policy or social policy

·     A PhD, or be working towards completion of a PhD, or have other research experience that demonstrates the capacity to produce independent original research

·     Experience of applying quantitative and qualitative research methods for social science research

·     Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate research findings effectively

·     Ability to manage own workload and work to tight timescales.
