Research Delivery Officer

Salary from £32,890 to £36,052 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £38,422 pa inclusive of London allowance

LSE is one of the world’s leading institutions for social science and is home to a distinctive community of philosophical research led by the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method together with the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science (CPNSS).

The Research Delivery Officer will work closely with the CPNSS Centre Manager and Philosophy Department Manager. This is a busy and varied role where you will be at the heart of supporting the delivery of our many philosophical research programmes and events, including academic lecture series, high-profile conferences and public events. The events we run range from large lectures with world-famous academics, to technical seminars aimed exclusively at specialists. Responsibilities will also include arranging hotels, room bookings and catering, preparing calendar invitations, and providing practical event-day support. You will also administer LSE Philosophy’s visitor programme, greeting visiting researchers, personnel onboarding and offboarding, and providing ongoing support. The role will also assist with the administration of staff and PhD research funds, expense reimbursements and associated records.

Due to the nature of the role, this is a predominantly campus-based position, with occasional evening attendance required to support events. However, there will be some flexibility across the academic year in working patterns.

Candidates should ideally have:

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and work to competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide a professional and responsive service to staff, visitors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and use initiative, recognising when matters should be referred or escalated.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow agreed procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Experience of providing administrative support, including supporting the organisation and delivery of events, ideally within an academic or research environment.
  • Experience of general budget administration, ideally processing expenses and invoices.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
