LSE Fellow in Geographic Data Science (GDS)

 

Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £47,456 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 13 months – estimated start date 1 September 2021

 


The Department of Geography and Environment is seeking a full time LSE Fellow in Geographical Data Science (GDS). The person will join a very strong and growing group of experts in the Economic Geography cluster of the Department, that includes economists and economic geographers interested in quantitative methods applied to the study of spatial socio-economic phenomena.

 

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in the Department primarily on the MSc programme in GDS as well as carrying out administrative duties. The successful candidate will also contribute to the teaching of quantitative methods at the undergraduate level; and to some topical lectures in one or more of the following areas (to be determined): economic geography, international trade, urban economics, spatial economics, closely related topics. The successful candidate will also be expected to advise on empirically orientated projects and dissertations.

 

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant subject – including Data Science; Economic Geography; Economics; closely related areas – or be close to completing it. In addition, candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Geographical Data Science; Spatial Analysis Techniques; Geographical Information Systems (GIS); Analysis of Spatial Socio-Economic Data: Methods and Theories.
