Research Officer in Algorithms and Optimisation
Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £47,456 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months, with the possibility of an extension of 12 months subject to funding
LSE’s Department of Mathematics is looking to appoint a Research Officer on the European Research Council Starting Grant Project “Scaling Methods for Discrete and Continuous Optimisation” (‘ScaleOpt’) working with Principal Investigator Dr László Végh. The successful applicant will;
- hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in a discipline relevant to optimisation, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, or Operations Research by post start date.
- demonstrate research interests and comprehensive knowledge in areas relevant to the project ScaleOpt: the theoretical foundations of discrete and continuous optimization.
- show evidence of developing a body of good quality publications in well-recognised peer reviewed outlets through independent original research.
- have excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to place one's specialist work within a broader context and to communicate research findings effectively to a range of audiences.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of a research team.
