 Research Officer in Latin American Inequality

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 24 months.

The International Inequalities Institute (III) is one of the world’s leading research centres on inequality, its causes, and consequences. It houses the Atlantic Fellows in Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme; the LIS Satellite Office in the UK; and the secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Inequality Review (LACIR).

We wish to recruit a Research Officer for a 24-month post to conduct original research on some aspect of inequality in Latin America. The post-holder will also serve as Secretary to the Latin American and Caribbean Inequality Review.

The post will start in September 2022.

Candidates should have:

·       A completed (or nearly completed) PhD in a social science discipline relevant for the successful conduct of research on inequality in Latin America

·       Proven expertise on and interest in aspects of inequality in Latin America and/or the Caribbean

·       Proven skills and experience in quantitative research methods which demonstrate the capacity to conduct original and rigorous research on topics related to inequality

·       Ability to present research findings to a variety of academic and non-academic audiences

·       Proven ability to analyse data of different kinds, including survey data and administrative records

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both English and Spanish

·       Evidence of excellent management and organizational capacity

·       Evidence of time management skills, setting priorities and meeting deadlines

·       Evidence of the ability to work effectively in large and small teams, involving both senior and junior researchers

·       Ability to establish and maintain links with external bodies to foster collaboration

·       Familiarity with the Latin America and Caribbean Inequality Review (LACIR) project
