The Division is keen to recruit established and emerging talent in research development. Candidates appointed on Bands 6 and 5 can expect to be promoted as they develop their experience and skills at LSE.

 

The Research Development Team provides exceptional support to LSE academics and researchers,and ensures the quality of competitive applications against funders’ strategies to a range of UK, European and international sponsors.

 

Research Development Administrator (Band 5): Salary from £30,570 to £35,108 pa (pay award pending) inclusive of London allowance, with potential to progress to £37,717 per annum and/or to Band 6. An RDA will support team activities such as coordinating grant training programme records, overseeing data pertaining to grant applications and contracts, and managing communications on behalf of the team. The post-holder will explore best practice in research management and administration. Applicants will have experience of a research environment and appreciation of the research process, highly developed communication skills, team working, and a solution-oriented approach to challenges.

 

Grant Applications Manager (Band 6): Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa (pay award pending) inclusive of London allowance, with potential to progress to £47,456 per annum and/or to Band 7. A GAM will support a portfolio of academic units with grant applications and contracts and will develop the skills to provide strategic support to promote and encourage research ideas. The post-holder will monitor the external funding landscape and explore best practice in grants and contracts management. Applicants will have experience in proposal and contract management, communication with senior research and academic colleagues, working in a team and contributing to goals setting, and the ability to work autonomously.

 

Research Development Manager (Band 7): Salary from £46,100 to £53,295 pa (pay award pending) inclusive of London allowance, with potential to progress to £59,354 per annum. An RDM will lead a portfolio of academic units supporting grant applications, contracts and research development and provide strategic support to encourage research ideas. The post-holder will monitor the external policy context and explore innovative research support approaches. They may act as a mentor to a GAM or RDA. Applicants will have understanding of emerging research funding priorities, leadership in goal setting for informal teams, strong networking and relationship building, and show initiative to change to policy and procedure.
