The aim of the ForestLAB is to study and create a world class model of natural ecosystems management, which is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’ and ‘Conservation and Development’ research teams within the ForestLAB project to design and implement a baseline survey in Grande Mayumba. This survey will examine individual and community behaviours and attitudes, along with socio-economic outcomes and stakeholder perspectives. The candidate will then build on this scoping phase of research to design and lead a focused piece of fieldwork-based research for the project.

Candidates will have a PhD, or soon to be completed PhD, in Conservation, Environmental and/or Ecological Economics, Behavioural Science, Development Economics or a related and relevant field. A strong technical background and research interests in conservation, behavioural science, behavioural and/or experimental economics and environmental and/or ecological economics are essential. A strong command of French and English, and the willingness and flexibility to travel for project-related fieldwork to Gabon and sub-Saharan Africa are required. Prior experience of conducting fieldwork and working on conservation and development issues in developing countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, would be desirable.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
