Salary is competitive and not less than £27,011 pa inclusive of London allowance.

 

This is a fixed term appointment for one year with possibility of extension.

 

The Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA) focuses on engagement with Africa through cutting-edge research, teaching, and public events, strengthening LSE’s long-term commitment to placing Africa at the heart of understandings and debates on global issues. It is a busy and fast-growing Institute and is seeking a dynamic and organised individual to join the team to provide administrative support to the Institute and more specifically the research programme.  

 

The Institute Administrator will be responsible for the provision of efficient, professional, and proactive administrative support. The role will be largely focused on supporting the research programme at the institute but will support other programmes where appropriate. The post holder will have responsibility for supporting the activities on research grants such as arranging meetings and taking notes, collating information for grant reporting deadlines, supporting staff expense claims, processing invoices, liaising with post-awards in Research and Innovation on upcoming financial deadlines, collating timesheets, track researcher annual leave, and support staff travel arrangements. The post holder will also be the first point of contact for the research programme at the institute and will direct queries as necessary.

 

Candidates should have administrative experience with strong financial reporting skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills with strong IT skills and evidence of the ability to work in a organised and accurate way within a team environment. We would welcome candidates who have an interest in social science research focused on Africa and engagement with African institutions. Fluency in French would be an asset.
