Research Officer

 

Salary from £40,229 to £48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £52,095 pa inclusive (pro-rata)

 

This is a part-time (0.5FTE) fixed term appointment for one year, with any extension/change in FTE subject to funding.

 

 

Applications are invited for the position of Research Officer, to assist Professor Jeffrey Chwieroth in the programme of research examining the political consequences of financialization and wealth inequality as well as the politics of climate-related risks to financial stability and household wealth.

 

The research officer is a full member of the academic community at the Department of International Relations, so you will gain excellent skills in academic research. The research officer will interact with a network of scholars in international and comparative political economy, international relations, economics, finance, public policy, and international law across the School.  It will be especially beneficial to those looking for a pre-doctoral position to gain valuable skills before embarking on or completing their PhD.

 

You should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in political science, economics, finance, statistics, data science, public policy or in a related discipline.

 

You should be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of R and Python programming and statistics. You will have excellent quantitative research skills and be able to engage with the literature related to the programme of research. You should also have excellent written and oral communication skills.
