Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

 

LSE Press publishes high quality, open access research in the social sciences. Through rigorous peer-review and the use of innovative digital approaches we promote the widest possible engagement with social science research. Based in the Library of the London School of Economics, LSE Press work with authors to develop and launch publications that reflect the LSE founding purpose and mission.

 

We are seeking a Publishing Officer to provide editorial support for the Editor in Chief and to coordinate the production of LSE Press publications. The role holder will work closely with the LSE Press Editor in Chief, Prof. Patrick Dunleavy and the LSE Press Team (currently Library Director, Head of Digital Scholarship and Innovation, Scholarly Communications and Research Support Manager). The role provides the opportunity to support both book and journal publishing as LSE Press enters a period of sustained growth.

 

The main duties of the post include:

 

·         Working with the LSE Press Team on the commission and development of new book publishing projects across the full range of social sciences

·         Editing book manuscripts in close consultation with the Editor in Chief and authors and editors.

·         Manage copyright, IPR and legal issues relating to LSE Press publications and provide advice to authors.

·         Promote the visibility of LSE Press publications via social media, blogs, indexing services etc.

·         Work with the LSE Press Team to develop policies, guidance and workflows to support the development of a high-quality service

 

Candidates should have:

 

  • Knowledge of social sciences research in the UK and internationally
  • Demonstrable experience of working in academic publishing and developing publication projects
  • A strong understanding and experience of open access publishing
  • Knowledge of the workflows, technical processes and IT applications used in academic publishing
