Scholarly Communications Officer
Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for up to 10 months for maternity cover
LSE is a world-leading social science research institution with global impact. An exciting fixed-term opportunity has arisen in its Publishing team, part of the Digital Scholarship & Innovation Group, based in LSE Library.
Launched in May 2018, LSE Press is a publisher of high quality, open access research in the social sciences. Through rigorous peer-review and the use of innovative digital approaches, the Press aims to promote the widest possible engagement with social science research.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience of working in a library or similar customer service environment, preferably in higher education or in publishing, to support the LSE Press Manager in developing LSE Press and open access publishing services for the School. The Scholarly Communications Officer will act as editorial assistant for LSE Press books and journals, and lead on the development of LSE Press’ student imprint, Houghton St Press, providing advice and support on setting up and running journals and other publications.
The Scholarly Communications Officer will support and advise LSE staff and researchers in all aspects of scholarly publishing. The post-holder is also responsible for the Library’s publishing advice service which provides advice and guidance on academic publishing with a focus on publishing routes, open access, licensing and IPR.
We are looking for people with knowledge of emerging trends in publishing, scholarly communication and information delivery, including open access, new university presses, bibliometrics and copyright.
