Research Officer (Energy Economics)
Salary from £38,313 to £46,148 per annum with potential to progress to £49,614 pa inclusive of London allowance

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is pleased to invite applications to the above post, a postdoctoral research position at the level of Research Officer. This role is to work on a newly-funded EPSRC project (PATCH) to analyse how a novel thermal energy storage can be integrated into energy systems, focusing on economic feasibility and policy barriers of using the technology to retrofit existing coal-fired plants and turn them into energy storage plants.
Candidates should have, or be about to complete, a PhD in energy/environmental economics or a related field. The appointee will have demonstrable high-level analytical capability with proficiency in modelling and techno-economic analysis, and detailed knowledge of energy systems and technologies, with a strong interest in energy storage and net-zero carbon pathways. A good understanding of China’s energy and climate change policies would be desirable.
