Salary from £52,806 to £60,705 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £67,357 pa inclusive of London allowance

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the foremost social science universities in the world, with a global reach and an international student intake. Student Wellbeing Service is central to the student experience: we aim to ensure that every student feels that they belong to a welcoming, inclusive, supportive, caring, scholarly community. 

We are seeking a Head of Counselling Service to lead a talented and experienced team of counsellors to deliver on our goals. The Head of Counselling Service will support the Deputy Head of Student Services (Wellbeing) in implementing the overall strategic intent for student wellbeing across the School and within SWS. The postholder will be responsible for the leadership, development, organisation and management of the student and the staff counselling services. The postholder will work with the Deputy Head of Counselling Service and other managers within the team to ensure an integrated range of services to students and staff.

The successful post-holder will be a highly experienced clinician, with in depth knowledge of a broad range of counselling models, excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, personal resilience in managing conflicting demands and implementing change, and strong leadership skills to be able to manage and develop a team and support staff working under pressure. They will hold an honours degree and relevant post-clinical qualifications and will have the ability to build, innovate and ensure a quality service provision.
