Research Assistant
Salary from £36,513 to £41,565 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468 pa inclusive of London allowance
Funding is currently available to support the position for one year
The Financial Markets Group (FMG) at the London School of Economics and Political Science invites applications for a Research Assistant to join the LSE Financial Opportunities Programme. The Programme conducts cutting-edge research aimed at improving understanding of household and consumer financial decision‑making and its implications for policy, regulation and financial innovation.
The postholder will undertake high‑quality academic research in finance and economics, working with large and complex datasets and applying advanced empirical, econometric and modelling techniques. The role involves close collaboration with academic staff and external partners and contributing to research outputs suitable for publication in leading international journals.
Candidates should have:
- A completed Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and/or a completed (or nearly completed) Master’s degree in Economics or Finance or other closely related discipline in Economics, Finance.
- Knowledge and skills in theoretical and statistical/econometric analyses in research projects
- Experience in running and setting up complex computer code on large and granular datasets
- Ability to locate data and to maintain and document data for use by others
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- A high level of initiative and self-motivation
