Policy Fellow (UK Adaptation and Resilience)

 

Salary from £53,949 to £62,160 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £69,073 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years in the first instance

 

The Grantham Research Institute is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The Institute’s work has been recognised through the award of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2020-22.

 

The post-holder will be part of a small team working on aspects of UK adaptation and resilience, including a national heat risk commission. The role involves conducting rigorous, user‑focused and policy‑oriented research on the impacts of climate change on the UK, collaborating closely with senior colleagues to inform national adaptation and resilience strategies. It includes providing secretariat support to the national heat risk commission, producing high‑quality policy outputs such as an annual climate impacts report, and engaging nationally and internationally to inform decision-making in the public, private and third sectors.

 

Candidates should have:

·        A postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in climate change adaptation and resilience or a related field. 

·        Detailed knowledge and understanding of UK climate change adaptation and resilience. 

·        Experience of producing high-quality outputs about adaptation and resilience aimed at decision-makers in the public, private and third sectors. 

·        Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English with the ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
