Research Communications Officer

Salary from £29,935 to £33,104 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £35,441 pa inclusive of London allowance.

This is a fixed term appointment until 31st October 2024 with potential to extend subject to funding. It is a full-time post with some flexibility on working pattern.

The Research Communications Officer will support day-to-day delivery of research communications and events activities across two units, reporting to Unit Manager. The role will include planning and supporting research events, maintaining communications platforms, and building and servicing the network of stakeholders engaged with both units.

Candidates should have previous events and communications experience, excellent communication skills including an ability to translate research content for wider audiences, and an ability to plan and organise their own workload. Knowledge of or an interest in Global Health and/or the African region would be an advantage.

About the African Health Observatory Platform on Health systems and Policies: AHOP is a collaborative partnership to support and promote the transfer of evidence and experience between countries to foster better policies and action for improved health and wellbeing. Hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO), AHOP leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres focused on the generation and exchange of knowledge and evidence for health systems and policy development in the African region. The network of National Centres currently includes leading research institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Senegal. AHOP draws on support from a technical consortium including the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, LSE and national, regional and global partners.  

About the LSE Global Health Initiative: The GHI is an interdepartmental research unit, currently hosted by the Department of Health Policy. It was set up to increase the coherence and visibility of Global Health research activity across the School, both internally and externally. It provides support for interdisciplinary engagement and showcases LSE’s ability to apply rigorous social science research to emerging global health challenges.
