Research Officer

Salary from £40,229 to £48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £52,095 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for 36 months to start on 2 September 2024

NeST is a collaborative six-year EPSRC Programme Grant led by a team of 9 investigators located in 6 UK universities. NeST enables cross-over and the sharing of ideas and techniques across the universities. The investigatory team is diverse in many ways, but in particular has technical diversity with expertise in statistics, applied probability, computational methods, mathematics and experience of extensive engagement with external partners. Applications are invited for a Research Officer position on the research project "Network Stochastic Processes and Time Series (NeST)" funded by the EPSRC.  You will conduct the relevant research under the direction of Professor Qiwei Yao.

Candidates must have a PhD in statistics or a related subject or expect to have submitted their PhD by the post start date. A solid background in mathematical statistics is essential for the post holder. Successful applicants should demonstrate excellent research achievement or potential for such achievement in (1) high-dimensional statistics inference and theory, (2) complex simulation, real data analysis and (3) advanced program skills. Experience in network research is desirable but not essential.
