Fixed term contract until 31 March 2025 (with possibility of extension subject to funding)
The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. We generate new evidence and innovative new ideas to improve the productivity of people and firms, as the key driver of sustainable economic development, and to support our government partners in transitioning to low-carbon growth pathways and protecting vulnerable populations. The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, we are majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The IGC is currently seeking a Country Manager for our Zambia programme to be based in London, travelling to Zambia for up to 6 months of the year. We will consider applications for a Zambia-based position (relevant contractual terms and an equivalent competitive local salary would apply). For this post, we may be able to offer visa sponsorship to the successful candidate.
The Country Manager will lead the IGC Zambia country team, reporting to the IGC Director of International Programmes and Impact, working with the IGC Executive Director on strategic issues and high level engagement, and managing a team of resident economists. Working closely with the team, they will develop and implement our country strategy, lead engagement with senior government and non-government stakeholders, identify reform champions and windows of opportunity for reform, and manage and expand the research portfolio. The portfolio will include the core IGC themes: Firms, Trade, and Productivity; State Effectiveness; Cities; and Energy and Environment.
