The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is recruiting up to three full-time Research Assistants to start as soon as possible. The RAs will work with the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) research team. The Institute is the academic partner to the Transition Pathway Initiative and we collaborate with investors, the data provider FTSE Russell, and the UN-supported Principles of Responsible Investment among others.
TPI is an investor-led initiative to ensure the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change and a main data provider to the Climate Action 100+ Initiative (CA100+). To this end TPI evaluates and tracks the quality of companies’ management of their greenhouse gas emissions and of risks and opportunities related to the low-carbon transition as well as how companies’ future Carbon Performance would compare to the international targets and national pledges made as part of the Paris Agreement. The advertised role will focus on supporting the CA100+ project manager in delivering data, analysis, and engagement support to CA100+, in particular its Net Zero Company Benchmark launched in March 2021 and a core element of CA100+’s engagement strategy.
Candidates should have a graduate degree (or equivalent) in environmental economics/finance, environmental/energy policy, corporate sustainability, economics, finance, management, or a related field. They should have strong analytical and quantitative skills and be able to demonstrate some experience of producing high-quality research and research analysis, aimed at decision-makers. Due to the data focused nature of the role excellent and proficient IT skills, including advanced MS Excel and STATA skills as well as data management skills are essential. Successful candidates will also have experience in supporting project management. Overall applicants should demonstrate the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, both within organisations as well as with external stake holders.
