Senior Policy Fellow (Net-Zero Central Banking)

 

Salary from £55,171 to £63,883 with potential to progress to £70,790 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years (to April 2024 with possibility of extension)

 

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment (GRI) seeks to appoint an experienced senior policy fellow to contribute to a policy and engagement programme on central banking, financial supervision, sovereign bonds and net-zero alignment climate policy.

 

The post holder will lead key aspects of this programme, in consultation with the Programme Director and Supervisor. They will conduct rigorous, research-based, user-focused and policy-oriented analysis, in collaboration with the other members of the GRI Sustainable Finance team, on aspects of central banking, supervision and net-zero alignment climate policy. They will lead project teams to deliver key activities and outputs for the joint programme and manage a small team of policy fellows and analysts working on aspects of central banking, financial supervision and sovereign bonds in the advanced economy, and emerging and developing economies. The post holder will also build and maintain networks, and lead on relevant engagement activities with senior policy experts and policy-makers ensuring outputs have demonstrable impact and inform decision-making.

 

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent experience in central banking, financial supervision, environmental economics or a related field and extensive experience of working with senior decision-makers in international financial institutions, central banks or supervisors, as well as working with or within financial policy institutions at the highest levels in the UK and overseas on issues relating to climate change and central banking. Through engagements with high-level international decision-making networks, candidates will have experience of conducting high-quality and user-oriented analysis on climate change and central banking with detailed knowledge and understanding of issues relating to these areas. Candidates will have experience and knowledge of project management, including the contribution of other project team members, and experience of managing a small group of technical experts.
