IGC Communications and Events Officer

 

Salary from £32,435 to £35,554 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £37,891 pa inclusive of London allowance.

 

The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and a set of resident country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

 

The IGC Communications and Events Officer will play a crucial role in promoting IGC’s ideas and the use of evidence in policy decision-making at the global and national level. This position will support our communication objectives to share and amplify IGC’s research and ideas with priority external audiences. They will working across events, digital, publications and media and will be essential in enabling the team to work effectively and efficiently.

 

The role includes

  • Assisting with in-person and virtual events planning
  • Managing digital content requests and creating content
  • Supporting PR and publications processes, incl. media monitoring
  • Supporting data management on the IGC database (“SPEAR”)
  • Coordinating key contracts for the communications team
  • Leading on content and folder organisation for the communications team

Candidates should have

  • A bachelor’s degree in an economics or a communication subject or equivalent experience 
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. 
  • Proficiency in using and learning digital tools and platforms, including Zoom.
  • Experience in planning and managing evets.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience in folder and database management.
  • Excellent listening and collaborative skills, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience in research/policy communications in economics and/or international development.

 

The position will be based in the IGC Hub located within LSE, in central London, and will be offered on a permanent basis (subject to funding, with current funding until 30 September 2026).
