Salary from £48,196 to £55,718 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £62,053 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

The International Growth Centre (IGC) aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research. The IGC directs a global network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams in Africa and South Asia and works closely with partner governments to generate high quality research and policy advice on key growth challenges. Based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is funded primarily by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

 

The IGC Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning will will lead the development and implementation the IGC’S monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) strategy. They will be responsible for leading a step-change in the IGC’s organisational approach to evaluation and learning, and further improving and embedding the organisation’s evolved monitoring systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to build a comprehensive understanding of IGC impact, and to identify areas for evaluation and analysis – with the aim of better informing decision-making on strategy and programme management. They will lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide results framework, to ensure effective oversight and learning. This will enable a holistic view of all IGC activity, grants and programmes.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Significant experience establishing and managing monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks for complex organisations, and in conducting evaluations and programme reviews.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and learning tools and methodologies and experience of working with Theory of Change at an organisational and programme level.
  • Experience working with donors to develop MEL frameworks and design reporting structures.
  • Evidence of excellent written and oral communication with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels. 
  • Strong analytical, evaluation design and methodological skills, and ability to use “right fit” methods for a broad range of quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Experience building productive and collaborative relationships with senior colleagues, gaining buy-in and cooperation, and the ability to bring together and motivate people from different parts of a complex international organisation.

 

The position will be based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London and will be offered on an open-ended basis subject to funding to 30th September 2026. Starting salary will be £48,196 with progression in role. Exceptional candidates may start further up the salary band.
