Research Fellow in Bayesian modelling

 

Salary from £50,606 to £58,505 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £65,157 pa inclusive of London allowance and and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website. 

 

This is a fixed term appointment which is expected to start in February 2024 until 30 September 2025

 

 

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position on the research project titled: “Evaluating Policy Implementations TO Predict MEntal health [EPITOME]: a Bayesian hierarchical framework for quasi-experimental designs in longitudinal settings”, funded by the Wellcome Trust under the Collaborative award in Science scheme. The research team includes statisticians and epidemiologists from the London School of Economics, University College London and Imperial College London.

 

The advertised post as Research Fellow in Bayesian modelling is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to develop a Bayesian approach to negative outcome controls in order to provide robust evidence-based evaluation of government policies on mental ill-health with specific focus on ethnic minorities. The person appointed will be expected to bring enthusiasm as well as valuable expertise and experience to strengthen the project’s team; to help meet its research objective; to present the methods and results in international meetings; to participate and lead on publications arising from their project.

 

Candidates must have a PhD in statistics or a related subject or expect to have submitted their PhD thesis by the post start date. Strong technical background in Bayesian statistical methods and experience of Bayesian modelling is essential for the post holder. Experience in causal inference is desirable but not essential. Candidates must have experience of working with large data from observational studies and must be able to work on their own initiative.

 

The post is based at the LSE.
