Research Officer in Social Care Projections and Microsimulation Modelling

 

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment until December 2023

 

The Care Policy and Evaluation Centre is a research centre at the LSE. Directed by Dr Jose-Luis Fernandez, CPEC undertakes research particularly in the areas of long-term care and mental health economics and policy.

 

CPEC is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Officer to start as soon as possible until December 2023 to support a number of externally funded research studies within the Centre, with particular contributions to research within the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Adult Social Care (ASCRU).

 

The Research Officer will be expected to apply quantitative methods to contribute to the evaluation of the English social care and health care systems. The post will focus on the application of simulation methods for developing projections of future demand/expenditure for health and social care services in England.

 

The Research Officer will be involved in extracting, manipulating and analysing quantitative data using different statistical and econometric modelling methods, conducting simulation modelling, contributing to the drafting of project reports and papers and to the dissemination of findings to a range of stakeholders, including funders, policy analysts and other academics. The Research Officer will also undertake a range of desk and field-based activities, including carrying out evidence reviews and other background research activities.

 

The Research Officer will be required to maintain knowledge of relevant policy and practice debates and discussions relevant to long -term care in England and (as appropriate) globally. They will be supported to develop their research careers within CPEC.

 

Candidates should have:

 

·       Evidence of knowledge and training in a relevant discipline, such as economics, operational research, data science, health services research, health policy or social policy, with quantitative methods

·       Advanced microsimulation modelling skills

·       A PhD, or be working towards completion of a PhD, or have other research experience that demonstrates the capacity to produce independent original research

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate research findings effectively

·       Ability to manage own workload and work to tight timescales.
