Course Tutor in Quantitative Methods and Statistics

 

 

Salary from £46,792 to £54,094 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £60,244 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months starting in early September

 

 

The Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science teaches and conducts cutting-edge research that is both based in and applied to the real world. We are looking for someone who is an inspirational teacher who will be a part of team that positions our new BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science as a leading global degree that attracts the best students from across the UK and around the world. 

 

Based in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science the post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities. The post holder will be expected to play a major role in ensuring the success of the new BSc in Psychological and Behavioural Science. The principal teaching focus will be in statistical and quantitative methodological approaches to psychological and behavioural science, leading students from introductory levels to more sophisticated training that will support their independent research project in their final year. All statistics teaching is done using the R programming language. The LSE is committed to research-based education, and whilst the candidate’s research area may be in any field of psychological and behavioural science, this should include the significant use and/or development of sophisticated statistical and research methods.

 

Candidates should have:

·         Experience teaching quantitative research methods using  R programming language, ideally at undergraduate level

·         A commitment to high quality teaching, course development and fostering a positive learning environment for students

·         A clear and viable strategy for future research. The post holder will teach and assess courses in quantitative research methods.

·         A completed PhD in psychology, statistics, or a related field, or be very close to completion, by the post start date.
