Research Officer in Labour Market Research
Salary from £38,313to £46,148pa inclusive with potential to progress to £49,614pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months.
The International Inequalities Institute (III) is one of the world’s leading research centres on inequality, its causes, and consequences. It houses the Atlantic Fellows in Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme based which is committed to building a community of people who are “committed to using collective leadership to work towards social and economic justice for all”. It also houses the UK LIS Satellite Office.
We wish to recruit a Research Officer for a 12-month post to conduct research and provide research support on the multidimensional challenges of measuring employment conditions in a global context.
The post-holder will join a dynamic team led by Prof Kirsten Sehnbruch to support research on the British Academy global professorship grant on measuring the quality of employment.
The post will start in March 2023 or as soon as is practicable.
Candidates should have:
· A completed PhD in a social science discipline or subject area relevant for the successful conduct of research on the labour market, employment conditions and related social policiesProven expertise and research interests focused on some aspect of employment and/or social policyProven skills and experience in quantitative and/or qualitative methods which demonstrate the capacity to conduct rigorous research on topics related to labour markets.
· Evidence of the capacity to prepare publications of high academic standard
· Ability to undertake research that informs the public debate and ability to engage with non-academic audiences.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to present research findings to a variety of academic and non-academic audiences
· Ability to work as part of an international collaborative research team
· Ability to take responsibility for working with the III’s comms team on producing content for the project’s website, including writing up news on events, blogs and maintenance
· Evidence of time management skills, setting priorities and meeting deadlines
· Demonstrable ability to collate and analyse data from a range of sources
· Ability to undertake literature reviews independently and contribute to their discussion
· Ability to analyse and research complex ideas, concepts or theories
