Research Officer, PeaceRep Iraq

 

Salary from £40,229 to £48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £52,095 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months, with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months. The appointment is expected to commence on 1 April 2024.

 

 

The Middle East Centre seeks a postdoctoral Research Officer to conduct research on the drivers of conflict and state fragmentation in Iraq. The post will run for the fourth year of the PeaceRep Iraq project, funded by the FCDO and led by Professor Toby Dodge.

 

The Research Officer will design and execute two research projects leading to publications in academic journals. They will engage with the FCDO and the PeaceRep consortium and will contribute to the administration of research project activities.

 

Candidates should have:

 

·       Published high quality research on the politics, economics or sociology of state fragmentation in Iraq.

·       Experience of conducting fieldwork in Iraq or another comparable conflict zone.

·       Significant policy-focussed research experience.

·       Professional working proficiency in written and spoken Arabic.
