Salary from £50,606 to £58,505 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £65,157 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

 

The LSE are seeking a highly motivated and talented Network Specialist who is ambitious to succeed in the IT Industry and is keen to build and enhance their career in an exciting and reputable university.

 

The postholder will be responsible for the design, support, and delivery of network services for LSE, providing subject matter expertise and guidance for network infrastructure, projects, and services. You will also contribute actively to the Networks team, providing technical support, strategic guidance, as well as motivating and encouraging initiative in colleagues as we develop towards a high performing team.

 

The successful candidate will have;

  •  Experience of running an enterprise class network service.
  • Experience of designing new, or substantially upgrading, network topologies and services.
  • Experience of configuration, management, and support of network infrastructure: eg, firewalls, data centres, routers and switches, wireless networks.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership within the team as a mentor and consultant.
  • Role model enthusiasm and energy about their work and encourage others to do the same.

 

You will join an organisation that offers an excellent environment to continue to develop your skills and gain experience with a wide range of technologies, contributing to LSE Strategy 2030, with initiatives such as:

 

  •  Network Security enhancements, and the move towards zero trust; Network Access Control (ISE), Zoning and border security upgrades.
  •  Refresh and upgrade projects for the Data Centre, Cisco campus LAN, wireless, and residential services.
  •  LSE migration to Cloud services, and delivery of connectivity and infrastructure services.

 

Alongside this you will be a technical consultant for projects with a network dependency as well as a point of technical escalation for incidents and issues. You will work with colleagues in a motivated Network Team within the Data and Technology Services Division, using professional services from partners for additional expertise in the implementation of new services.

 

There will be occasions when the post holder may be required to work outside these hours and/or be contacted outside these hours.

 

LSE is a campus-based university and staff are expected to attend the London campus in fulfilling their role.  We are adopting an agile working model and the duties of this role are such that we can offer flexible working patterns. We therefore encourage applications from all parts of the UK, with periodic travel to the London campus for this role.
