Salary from £46,792 to £54,094 per annum inclusive with the potential to progress to £60,244 inclusive of London allowance

Fixed term appointment for 2 years (
with the potential to extend subject to funding) 

 

The Grantham Research Institute is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science. We produce both academic research and policy-oriented analysis for a wide audience. The Institute’s work has been recognised through the award of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2020-22.

 

We are looking for an experienced policy expert and project manager to join the Institute’s adaptation and resilience team. The role covers a wide range of policy analysis and project management, delivery, communication, and project governance activities. Specifically, the post holder will manage the delivery of the Institute’s work as part of the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance (the Alliance), one of GRI’s flagship adaptation projects. The Alliance is a multi-sectoral partnership focusing on finding practical ways to support communities in developed and developing countries strengthen their resilience to flood risk. The appointee will conduct rigorous, research-based, user-focused and policy-oriented analysis, in collaboration with GRI’s researcher group and with the wider members of the Alliance. They will coordinate production and delivery of research-based policy outputs, and lead on dissemination and engagement activities. The appointee will play an active intellectual role in the Alliance and the life of the Institute and contribute to the formulation and delivery of the Institute’s policy analysis strategy for adaptation and resilience.

 

The post-holder will have a masters or equivalent experience in environment and climate change, risk management, sustainable development, finance and economics, or a related field, as well as extensive experience in informing and influencing decision-makers in the public, private or third sectors. The post-holder will also have excellent writing and communication skills, strong analytical skills with knowledge and understanding of adaptation and climate resilience, as well as experience and knowledge of project management.
