Communications and Events Officer

 

Salary from £29,240 to £32,527 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £34,753 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

The Department of International Development promotes interdisciplinary postgraduate teaching and research on processes of social, political and economic development and change. The Department is dedicated to understanding problems of poverty and late development within local communities, as well as national and international political and economic systems. The Department is now seeking to appoint a Communications and Events Officer.

 

The Communications and Events Officer’s responsibility will be to ensure a positive student experience, with particular attention to creating a sense of community for the department’s students. They will oversee the complete student experience cycle from enquirer to alumni. The postholder will represent different views, cultures and experiences through the department’s communication channels and will connect students across cohorts and other departments. They will play a vital role in developing and supporting learning and engagement opportunities for students, including a series of student led events, podcasts and blogs.

 

Candidates should have a degree or equivalent qualification, experience managing communication channels and events ideally in the education sector, the ability to work on multiple tasks and to prioritise competing deadlines. They should also have good IT skills across the range of Microsoft Office applications and preferably some experience using Moodle or similar systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, as you will be dealing with academic staff and current and prospective students. Candidates should have a high attention to detail and be able to organise and prioritise their own work.
