Research Officer—Digital Futures for Children centre

  

Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance

 

Funding is available to support this position until December 2028.

 

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), until December 2028.

  

DigiPulse is an innovative three-year longitudinal, international research project investigating the real-time relationships between children’s smartphone use and their wellbeing, with data collected in the UK, Brazil and Kenya. The project combines passive smartphone tracking, Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) and longitudinal surveys with around 750 children and young people aged 10–17

 

The Research Officer will play a central role in the project’s management, development, data collection and analysis. The role carries particular responsibility for developing and refining EMA instruments, contributing to the research literature and hypotheses, and supporting participatory and consultative work with children, as well as conducting statistical analysis and producing research findings, working closely with partners in the UK, Brazil and Kenya.

 

Candidates should have:

  •  a completed PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. media and communications, psychology, psychiatry, sociology, education, or computational/data social science);
  • experience of developing surveys and/or questionnaire instruments;
  • experience of designing and/or conducting longitudinal research studies
  • and experience with EMA, experience-sampling or other intensive longitudinal data collection methods.
